Everything you need to know about Hike the Heights β the event, the trail, and how to get involved.
What is Hike the Heights?
A free annual community hike and celebration in northern Manhattan. Participants hike along the Giraffe Path through the cliffside parks, ending at a community party in Highbridge Park with arts, music, games, and food.
When and where is Hike the Heights 2026?
Saturday, June 6, 2026 β rain or shine. Hikes depart from multiple parks along the Giraffe Path starting at 11am. The community celebration in Highbridge Park runs from 11amβ3pm.
How much does it cost?
Completely free and open to the public. No registration required to hike!
What is the Giraffe Path?
A 6-mile urban trail connecting Fort Tryon Park to Central Park through the cliffside parks of northern Manhattan. Hikeable in sections, accessible year-round.
Do I need to register?
No registration needed to hike! If bringing a group or signing up as a community partner, use the sign-up form on the 2026 Hike page.
Is this family-friendly?
Absolutely. All ages welcome β art stations, games, music, and dancing at the celebration.
What should I bring?
Comfortable shoes, water, sunscreen, layers. Rain jacket just in case β event is rain or shine!
How far do I have to hike?
You choose! Full path is 6 miles, but hikes depart from multiple points so you can join at any distance.
How can my organization get involved?
Community partners contribute an activity, art station, sport clinic, or programming. Use the sign-up form on the 2026 Hike page.
