1) When is Hike the Heights?

Hike the Heights is always the first Saturday of June, to coincide with National Trails Day!

2) How can I sign up for the next Hike the Heights?

Signing up is not necessary, you can just show up and join the celebration.  If you would like to receive regular updates, volunteer at the event or be part of the Consensus Group that plans the event, please visit our
Sign-up page to sign up yourself, family, or organization.


3) I can't make it to Hike the Heights
, but want to get involved. What should I do?

There are a number of ways to get involved prior to the event, including spreading the word, making giraffes,
donating, volunteering to prepare the trails to welcome hikers, and so on. Please Sign-up and we will find a way for you to join.  In the spirit of the potluck, all are welcome to contribute to this event. 


4) When and where do I meet others on Hike the Heights?

The Hike the Heights party at the Sunken Playground takes place from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm, located at 167th Street and Edgecombe Avenue in Manhattan.  You can come straight to the Sunken Playground or choose a location below and join neighbors hiking to the celebration:


5) What should I bring on the day of Hike the Heights?‬

In addition to wearing comfortable shoes and clothes for the hike, bring along sunglasses or a hat, a refillable water bottle, and don't forget sunscreen and bug repellent. Water and food will be provided at the celebration. 

Also, bring a friend and/or your family and your camera if you wish. If you have allergies, don't forget appropriate medications and supplies.


6) What should I wear?‬

Wear comfortable shoes and dress in layers, in case you get too hot or cold.



7) Who organizes Hike the Heights?

Each year, Hike the Heights is organized by the CLIMB Consensus Group, a community-led, voluntary, collaborative group promoting physical and civic activity in an around the parks in Northern Manhattan. CLIMB is made up of individuals and organizations that come together because they are passionate about community strengthening, and about celebrating and improving greenspace in the city. CLIMB is not run by single person or organization, but is led by everyone community who wishes to join. Interested in learning more?
